Yesterday Mia stayed home from school as she wasn't feeling well. She mostly laid on the couch and watched tv. At one point her and I watched a show on Food Network. I can't even remember who the lady was hosting the show, but Mia really liked the breakfast she made. I do know the show was about only using 5 ingredients per item. We have recreated the breakfast (with a lot more ingredients because that's just how we do it).
French Toast with Fresh Strawberry Sauce and Whipped Cream and Maple Glazed Bacon
I'll try to post the exact recipe later, but basically we use Texas Toast bread, eggs, cream, vanilla and maple syrup for the French Toast batter. Matt really likes to soak up the bread and then cooks it on a buttered griddle.
For the strawberry sauce we took a whole carton of strawberries and washed and cut up. Put them in a sauce pan with about a cup of water and 2-3 tablespoons of sugar. Let that simmer and the strawberries break down and form a really darn good sauce.
For the bacon, we made a glaze from maple syrup and dijon mustard. Brush on the bacon and bake. OMG, it was good!
Here's the yuminess!
Herew's Miss Mia. She's always dressed up for a big event!!!
And here's Mason....my 1st grader who can't keep his nose out of these Magic Tree House books!
